Lottery FAQs

The lottery application window is now closed. Thank you to everyone who applied. For questions on the next steps in the process, please read the FAQs below. If you have additional questions, please email [email protected].

Q. When will the lottery take place?
A. The lottery took place on June 22, 2021.

Q. Can I still apply for the lottery?
A. The lottery application window closed on May 20th. Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting applications. For other affordable housing opportunities, please visit https://www.boston.gov/metrolist

Q. What's the next step?
A. The lottery results have been approved by the city of Boston. We will begin reaching out to applicants who are ranked highest in the lottery to income certify and tour the property. All applicants who are selected in the lottery must agree to an income certification to verify that their self-reported income information is accurate before we can invite the household to move in.

Q. How will I know the results of the lottery?
A. All applicants received the results of the lottery via email or mail, if no email address was provided. If you did not receive the results, please email [email protected] or call (617) 398-5111 and we will re-send the results of the lottery.

Q. I got an email saying my application is ineligible. Does that mean I am disqualified?
A. Unless you can prove otherwise through the appeals page found at: bit.ly/newcastlesaranacappeals, your application will be ruled ineligible and you will be removed from the applicant list.

Q. Can I tour the property?
A. Unfortunately we are not offering tours at the moment. We have photos of the property listed on our website. If you are selected in the lottery, you will have the chance to come visit the property to confirm that you would like to move forward in the process.

Q. Can I do anything to improve my chances?
A. Once you have submitted your application, the application is final. However, if you believe you made a mistake, you may email [email protected] with the revision you would like to make. Otherwise, you must wait until the lottery drawing. Good luck to everyone!
